Beyond the Coffee: Become a Part of Our Hospitality Team!
We're blessed with a wonderful team of friendly and dedicated folks who make Sunday fellowship possible by providing refreshments in Wesley Hall.
Now, we need your help! We're looking for more smiling faces to join us, ensuring we can keep the coffee and conversation flowing every week, even when team members are away or unwell.
Hospitality is more than a chore; it's a vital ministry that supports our church's mission and creates a welcoming environment for all.
While the primary focus is Sunday coffee hour, the team also steps up to assist with funeral receptions. (Specific tasks are detailed at the end of this article.)
This is a perfect opportunity for individuals, couples, or families to serve together!
Volunteers often find unexpected joys and benefits:
Meeting new people: Connect with members from all three services.
Receiving gratitude: Experience the heartfelt thanks from fellow church members.
Enhancing community: Feel the satisfaction of helping to bring people together and making our church a warmer, more welcoming place.
Hospitality isn't just about a warming cup of coffee or a sweet cookie; it's an invitation to share special moments and build connections within a community of good, kind, and caring people. It's what helps make SUM truly special.
Ways to Serve: Choose Your Shift
Most team members serve just once a month, and we always work in teams of two. This makes the work go quickly and ensures no one has to lift heavy tables or dish racks alone.
The Early Bird (Saturday Set-up):
Prepare Wesley Hall for the 8:00 am service. This usually takes place on Saturday and involves setting out refreshments so everything is ready for the first arrivals. The Morning Host (Sunday Prep):
Ensure the coffee is brewing and beverages/snacks are ready for the 9:00 am and 10:30 am services. You’ll be the friendly face behind the treats! The Restoration Crew (Sunday Clean-up):
Starting around 11:50 am, this team helps tidy up the kitchen and Wesley Hall after a busy morning of fellowship.Special Care Team (Funeral Receptions):
Occasionally, we provide a comforting presence and event coordination for funeral receptions in Wesley Hall, supporting families in their time of need.
