Advent at SUM
Church Christmas Celebration: Sunday, December 7 after the 10:30 Service: Enjoy a reading of the Christmas story by our SUM children, sing Christmas carols, decorate cookies for the residents of South Park & bring the kids to play some Christmas-themed games. Don’t miss out on the youth group’s Cookie Caper where you can buy homemade cookies by the pound to support youth group missions.
Blue Christmas Service - Wednesday, December 17 at 7:00 p.m.: A quiet and reflective service for those who may want to slow down their holiday pace for an evening, those who experience sadness during the holidays, and those who just want to sit quietly and listen to some comforting words and music. Everyone is welcome.
Lessons and Carols Service - Sunday, December 21 at 10:00 a.m. (one service only): Each year, SUM celebrates the season with the traditional Lessons and Carols service alternating between nine short Bible readings (lessons) and traditional Christmas carols. The service combines scripture, choral and praise music, and congregational singing for a festive and reflective atmosphere.
5:00 p.m. Family Christmas Eve Service: Join us as we prepare for the birth of Christ through the eyes of the children. This is a joyful service with familiar Christmas Carols and the rumbling of a church full of multigenerational families preparing for Santa. All are welcome here.
11:00 p.m. Candlelight Christmas Eve Service: An alternative to the Family Service is our traditional “midnight” service filled with joyful hymns and quiet contemplation. Enjoy amazing choral music and feel the true magic of Christmas as we join together in song and prayer. The magical service ends with the lighting of candles as we join together to sing “Silent Night.”
