Hail and Farewell - New SUM Bookkeeper

Please join me in saying a fond farewell to Laura Riley, her husband Sean, and their son, JD. The Rileys have been members of SUM for 28 years, and all of them have been involved in a variety of things over the years. Back in the early 2000’s, Laura helped out as a volunteer bookkeeping helper for a while, and she has been our one and only bookkeeper for the past five years!

Laura, Sean, JD, and their golden retriever, Jameson, are moving to Sarasota, Florida, to retire (at least partially retire!). They have appreciated being a part of the church all these years and have enjoyed the camaraderie and Sunday services.

To replace Laura as our SUM bookkeeper, we are happy to introduce Megan Towner! Megan and her family moved to Granby from Charlotte, NC this April, so this is their first experience with New England! Her husband’s new job with RTX in East Hartford is what brought them north. They have two children: Hailey is twelve, and Carter is four.

Some fun facts about Megan: she is re-learning how to play the viola after 20 years, and she’s working toward her certification as an ASL (American Sign Language) interpreter. Some of her favorite things to do in her free time are reading fantasy books and playing volleyball.

If you see a new face in the SUM finance office, please poke your head in and say “hi” to Megan – and maybe Carter, too!
