The Quiet Power of Love: A Heartfelt Reflection
Sunday, the 22nd, was a sincere celebration of Pastor Gene and Deacon Deb's service over the past 7 years.
The 10 o'clock service highlighted the friendship and laughter they shared. Their sermon included stories of the Easter Cross incident, the Baptismal Font mishap, and the camaraderie of “Fred and Ginger,” making us laugh until we cried.
In a final act of ministry, Pastor Gene and Deacon Deb served the entire congregation communion, telling each person, “I love you.”
The music selections were meticulously organized. The program included thoughtful tributes and a slideshow reflecting their time with us during the Anthem. The event showcased the talents of the CAYA musicians, choirs, handbells, music directed by Bridget Scarlato, special lyrics (Ah Gene we luv ya) written by Kari Miller to the tune of For All the Saints, and Janet Stodd played the flute during communion. Additionally, the Len Bobinski Kazoos added a touch of entertainment. Pastor Gene “literally marked his spot” on us by managing to spill the grape juice, but no worries, folklore tells us that the spilling of the wine is a good omen.
Many people attended the feast following the service, where Deb and Gene received custom-made quilts along with cards and gifts from everyone.
Thank you to all the people who worked so hard in the background to make this day so special, “Happy Trails to You” Pastor Gene and Deacon Deb.
