Pastoral Letter: Through Saturday, Toward Resurrection Morning

Dear friends,

This week, the weather has softened.
Spring has come into our daily lives.

I wondered when the new shoots would appear.
But one morning, they were already there—
small, tender, and new.

The quiet morning is no longer quiet.
Now it is filled with the sound of birds.
It is a little noisy,
but it is the sound of life.

Spring did not come
at the moment we expected,
or in the way we hoped.

But it came.
It came after the winter,
and it has reached us.

Looking back, the past season felt like winter.
Everything was drawn inward,
and everything seemed asleep.

It was not easy to find signs of life.
At times, it felt like everything had stopped.

But we knew.
Spring would come.

Even when we could not see it,
life was already being prepared.

Today is Saturday.

A quiet day—
a day that feels especially still,
and even a little cold.

We remember the time
when everything we believed,
everything we hoped,
everything we dreamed
seemed to fall apart before death.

It is a place where everything seems finished.
A place where nothing more can be expected.

A day to remain in that silence.

But we pass through this Saturday.

Quietly,
but without giving up.

Because we know.

Resurrection morning is coming.

Before everything seemed finished,
God was already preparing life
in ways we could not see.

Through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
God has shown us:

after winter,
Spring comes.

So we gather every Sunday.

We remember that our Lord rose on that day,
and we come again
into that life.

The world we live in is still not easy.

There is injustice.
There is distortion.
There is envy, and jealousy, and division.
There are ways of living
that use others for oneself.

Some days feel cold.
Very cold.
Like death.

And still,
we come.

We remember resurrection.
And we come together
into that life again.

Because in Christ,
we are invited
into life beyond death.

And God is not far away.

God is here,
in our lives,
with us.

Walking with us,
leading us,
holding us.

So today,
in this quiet time,
we remain.

Trusting
that life has already begun.

And tomorrow,
we will gather.

We will welcome the morning of resurrection.
We will stand before the Lord
who has overcome death.

And we will worship.

Together.

In that place,
with you,
I hope

we may worship
the Triune God
with all our hearts.

Walking together,

Pastor DH
