A Night of Joy, Hope, and Welcome: May 10 Fundraiser for Refugee Resettlement

On Saturday, May 10, at 7 PM in Wesley Hall, we invite you to a special evening in support of the Welcoming Project, Simsbury UMC’s refugee resettlement ministry. This fundraiser will feature the Steve O’Brien Band’s incredible talents, whose music will lift our spirits and move our feet. But even more than that, this gathering is about coming together as a community rooted in compassion, hospitality, and hope.

We are praying the evening will be filled with joyful moments—when the music stirs something deep in us, when laughter fills the room, and when we form friendships over shared purpose. We also pray for hopeful moments—where we catch a glimpse of what’s possible when we stand united in love, daring to believe that we can help create a home for those who have been displaced. And we pray for comforting moments—the simple peace of being together in this wonderful SUM community, showing up with open hearts and willing hands.

This is the vision for the evening. The prayer for the outcome is that we will walk away inspired and recommitted to the sacred work of welcome. As always, 100% of the proceeds will go towards our mission to support displaced families, ensuring they have the resources, relationships, and encouragement they need to thrive.

Come for the music, stay for the mission, and leave with your heart full. Let’s make it a night to remember.
