Gratitude, Grace, and Good Work: A Justice and Joy Update
What a joyful evening we shared at the recent Justice and Joy cookout—it was wonderful to welcome so many outreach ministry leaders to my home for a BBQ. We enjoyed delicious food and warm conversation. Almost every leader was able to attend, which speaks volumes about the heart and spirit of this outreach leadership team.
It was deeply moving to hear updates from each of the ministries and to see how our efforts intertwine, reinforcing the truth that we are stronger together. As the gap continues to widen for the marginalized, oppressed, hungry, and poor in our world, the work of Justice and Joy—fondly known as J&J—becomes more vital than ever. We are not just helping others—we are living out our calling to be the hands and feet of Christ in the world.
Thanks to your generous Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter holiday giving, we were able to distribute $8,200 to support this essential work:
Covenant to Care – $1,500
Pollinator Project – $500
Refugee Ministry – $1,300
NWCC Food Bank – $500
Interval House – $1,000
South Park Inn – $2,400 (covering groceries for all of 2025–26)
Reserved for Future Needs – $1,000
We also celebrated a leadership transition, as I officially passed the baton to Sue Homrok-Lemke, who will serve as J&J convener beginning July 1. Sue’s wisdom and heart for justice make her a natural fit for this role, and I know J&J will thrive in the season ahead. Thank you, Sue, for saying yes.
To each of you—thank you. For your generosity, your presence, your questions, and your action. Together, we are living the gospel in real and tangible ways. And that, my friends, is good news indeed.
