Covenant to Care Backpack Drive Collects 82 Backpacks

Thank you for our most successful backpack drive ever! Catherine, our CCC liaison, also sends “Thank you and blessings!” Last week, 82 backpacks, along with five boxes and bags of children’s clothing donated by LLI families, were delivered to Covenant to Care. When I arrived, I was met in the parking lot by a case worker who took 40 of the backpacks for immediate delivery! A team of volunteers was on hand to begin sizing and organizing the clothing so it would be ready as needed. It is comforting to know that donations made by SUM to CCC are quickly directed to families that need them!  

Our next opportunity to support children through the SUMC partnership with Covenant to Care for Children will be in November. Watch for the Giving Tree in Wesley Hall!
